As schools face increasing pressure to modernize their classrooms and curricula, Google environments - such as Google Apps, Google Classroom, and Google Chromebooks - are becoming increasingly central to this strategy. Web-based education apps and 1:1 Chromebook initiatives are no longer a vision of the future, but more and more, are becoming an integral part of the modern, digital classroom. However, effectively managing identity and access for these environments is not as simple as one might think. The vision of the digital classroom can quickly turn into a headache if a large-scale migration to the Google environment occurs without the right identity and access management (IAM) tools in place. A Next-Gen IAM solution makes this move easier and more manageable, without requiring Active Directory changes or custom coding, as well as enables an ideal level of granularity and control within the Google environment. Identity Automation and New Caney Independent School District discuss the challenges of a move to the Google environment and how putting the right IAM infrastructure in place empowers school districts to support the Google information requirements, without having to re-engineer Active Directory.
